Hola!

I am afraid I do not have a picture that I can post at this time, since they are all in my phone and our wireless internet is out; however, I can come back on tomorrow on my break and post from my phone.  I've been working on de-cluttering my house and I feel like I am finally starting to see a difference.  We celebrated my son's 11th birthday two Saturday ago.  We need to re-do the flooring in our home (it's only 3 years old) because people who built our home did not know what they were doing or something.  Luckily for us, my husband can do all of that stuff.  He did the guest bathroom floor two weeks ago (just in time for Nate's birthday party).  He laid a plank wood style tile down, and I repainted the bathroom a different color.  Oh and Friday night our cat had two kittens....I was a little shocked that she only had two.  Then Sunday morning she had another two!!!  I could not believe it, over 24 hours apart.  My mother says she's heard of it, but I was amazed.  Anyone want a kitten in 6-8 weeks?

My Spanish Speaking Practice Partner

Hola Clase,

This is a picture of "my" Work Study Student, Marcelo Perez.  He is a native speaker, originally from Ecuador, living in Charlotte with his family.   I practice speaking with him, which is a really fortunate opportunity for me.  Last week, I was reading the Ed Lab Newsletter (which is bi-lingual) out loud to him, and Marcelo said I did well. YEA Marcelo!

Adventures!

Hola clase,
I like to spend in the woods/forest because is something where I grew in my country. Also, is where most of the time I used to spend when I was in the military. Every time I take my kids to a little adventure they love it because they enjoy nature. At the same time I teach them survival skills. I know they little but once they start growing more, they know what to do when it comes to this things,

Hola!
I hope that everyone has been having a great week. I have not had a super eventful week; mostly just continuing to go to the gym everyday and doing homework. This morning I ran across an article about a UNCW student spotting a great white shark near Wrightsville Beach this week! I thought it was so neat they were able to see that not too far from the beach. This is the link to the article; there is also a video they were able to capture. http://www.twcnews.com/nc/coastal/news/2017/03/29/great-white-shark-attacks-boat-of-uncw-student.html
Here's a photo I took of Wrightsville Beach the other day while walking on the pier. I'm obviously way too excited to live so close to the beach, because it seems like I'm here once a week!

As I was driving I saw a big convoy of military vehicles manned by at least 4 young people in each. I prayed and wished that wherever they were going, they were ok and all of them could come back safe. I felt lucky and proud.

Hola!  So my baby is 11 months old (turned last week) and it makes sad actually.  Man they grow so fast.  There was picture day this week, and they did so good.  I've put those pictures in this blog today.  Harleigh is 3 years old, and Harper is 11 months.  It's a shot of the proofs, so the quality is not great.  My son turned 11 yesterday, and my biggest baby will be 18 this year.  I don't feel that old, but then I say I have a 17 year old, I get floored every single time. Haha.  So I started going to this place called Achieve Medical Weight Loss.  I go every Saturday morning for a B12/Lipo injection and weigh check, and I take a prescription of  Phentermine and Baricare Vitamin pack every morning.  I maxed my insurance out with my physical therapy, so I'm considering looking into the gastric sleeve surgery. I don't know, we'll see.  I have mixed feelings.  I seem to be doing good on this, last Saturday I was down a total of 8 lbs.  I don't really see/feel it except in my wedding bands (diamond does not stay on top, keeps swirling around my finger...it was a little big to start with, but it swirling around more) and I know it takes time.  Maybe I'll do a before/now picture on the last blog.  Have a great weekend!

Hola clase!

I have been enjoying moving into my apartment these past two weeks. It feels nice to finally be settled somewhere; I've already been to the beach twice! I have a feeling I will be spending all of my free time there this summer. I have also started at a new gym (trying to get back on track with my goals for the year), and I'm really enjoying it there. Tuesday my family came to visit, and we took a quick trip to the beach since it was 78 degrees outside. Here are a couple of photos that I took during our quick trip!

Hola clase!

I hope all is well with you all! As I was walking the loop at Wrightsville Beach the other day I saw these two colorful boxes on posts. I looked inside and its a little free library that you're suppose to give a book and take a book. I thought it was the coolest thing, if you ever get a chance to check them out you should! I think there are more downtown as well!

Unidad 15 Blog

Hola Class,

¿cómo estás?

It seems like just yesterday that the pollen was falling and now my yard is covered in the seasons first snowfall. I am feeling the hour I lost creep up on me like the sand man has hit me with his entire bag of sand. I woke at 5 this morning thinking the time hadn't changed yet and  now feel the 4 AM reality. I have had so much going on lately between my four kids and my husband that I have fallen significantly behind. It looks as if I my be taking this class again this fall or summer in case my grade is too bad. I won't mind too much as the more practice I get the better my Espanol will be, huh.
I hope everyone is doing better than me at staying afloat. I also hope everyone got the much needed break this past week. I know after being sick with three different viruses/flu over the past month and my kids being sick and my husband's medical issues that I am really ready for summer. But I must say the snow is nice.

This month....

So I'm not sure what to say.  The baby stays sickly, and the photos I have are from last weekend when all she wanted to do was be help.  My 3 year old loves to play with the camera on my phone and one of her previous teachers got her liking this photo app (that we now of course have).  I ended last week very upset with news that my background check would not be back before it expired so I would not be allowed to work until it came it, and then there's a 15 day grace period that if it's not received by the 20th, I would be out of a job.  So, after my panic subsided I used this last week to clean up the house and get rid of a bunch of stuff.  We've been calling the state daily to hopefully "bug" them enough to get things moving (some of the new hires, I've seen them take weeks!) and they said they approved it and it was mailed out on the 8th.  I'm hoping it is in the mail today because as much as I loved the time at home and would love to be able to do that on a permanent basis, financially that is just not an option.  So here are some pictures of us playing around on the photo app.....yes I make pictures out of my sleeping baby....don't judge....lol .  Have a great week everyone.

Happy Spring Break!

I hope everyone else has begun celebrating their spring breaks like I have. I have been in Orlando, Florida for a couple of days. It seems I've been traveling a lot lately! :) I'm excited to leave tomorrow though, because I've ended my apartment search and will spend the rest of my break moving in. Hopefully everyone else has a wonderful spring break! Here's a photo of my boyfriend and I enjoying a Mardi Gras parade at Universal Studios last night.

My Life

I like to spend time with my two little because they mean everything to me. I try to enjoy with them all I can because life is only one and you don't get to repeat what you did that day.

I had the flu in the last week of February. It was tough. I'm glad I'm almost out of it I am really enjoying the weather and seeing flowers and cardinals everywhere around my house. I'm sharing a song that you could teach with your students that's related to seasons and months. I'm also sharing a picture of a squirrel skipping class at the community college where I work full time.

Hola! Buenos Noches?!?!

Hope everyone's week has gone better than mine, and have gotten more sleep than I have also.  I may have to come back a little later and add my pictures to my blog, maybe into the comments section, my phone is dead and that is where all the pictures are.

My baby, who just turned 10 months old has been very sick lately, and she finally got her tubes in her ears, so maybe the tubes will allow all this fluid to drain and not build up which will not allow it to build up or whatever its doing.   She's been through RSV testing and x-rays for pneumonia (which were all negative, thankful but it leaves us at "what's wrong with her?" She has had fluid in her ears and double ear infections for a month straight.  Out of my cinco kids, she has been my most sick and the youngest one to get tubes.  My 8 year old is the only one who does not have any tubes.

Here is a photo of us right before her surgery on Wednesday.

Hola!

It looks like everyone else has been just as busy as I have! Last week I took advantage of not having to work for a few weeks and went on a spontaneous road trip to D.C. with my brother, sister-in-law, nephew, and their friends for a couple of days. It was nice to travel somewhere that I haven't been in many years. However, the trip took a couple of days out of my apartment searching. So, the rest of my week is going to be very hectic as I would love to find a place before spring break!

Also, I mentioned in my first post that I have been trying to be healthier this year; between moving back to North Carolina and my trip out of town, I definitely lost sight of my goal for a few weeks! However, today I managed to meal prep for the rest of the week and get a great workout in. I'm proud of myself today for at least attempting to be healthy so, hopefully I will get back into a routine soon.

I hope everyone has a great week. Here is a photo of myself, my brother, sister-in-law, nephew, and their friends at the Lincoln Memorial the other day, and a couple of photos of the Washington Monument!

For the love of clay!

So my newest hobby and passion is pottery. I started taking a class last summer at the community arts center and now have evolved to making decent size vases in my ceramics class at UNCW. I absolutely love working with clay and hope to have my own studio at my house soon. I also want to learn all I can about different processes and eventually get my master in Fine Arts in ceramics. Ultimately I would love to teach ceramics and art at either the secondary education level or college level. I will work on taking a couple of pictures of me throwing to add to these images. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog entry. Hope you enjoy seeing my work. Also you

MJ at Watson College of Education

Hola Classmates,

Here I am at my office in the Betty Holden Stike Education Laboratory of the Watson College Education.  Los Caballitos de Mar painting behind me is my favorite one in WCE.  I am fortunate to enjoy it everyday as I work.

Hola! If you all are anything like me your semester has been a little crazy lately. Its that point in the year where the work is piling up and there is always something going on. I hope you are all enjoying this class as much as I am though!

I recently turned 21 and was able to celebrate with friends and family. My family means everything, and my nephew has the key to my heart as you can probably tell by my pictures.

Unidad 9

Hola!  I see we're all very busy.  Things have been very busy and hectic and at times a bit overwhelming.  I quit my PT early, since the feeling I get is burdening from others.  Happy 10 months old to my sweet baby today, she's been sick all of this month, and most of the last 2.  She is scheduled for surgery on the 22nd for tubes.  I'm hoping that will help (people are starting to ask if she is Darth Vader's child...hahaha).  Her pediatrician sent her Saturday to the hospital for RSV testing, that was negative today.  I just don't know what else it could be.  Low grade fever....she has good spirits, so that is the bright side.  Sunday was so gorgeous and I felt the fresh air would do her some good, so we took a walk on a nature trail.  This is my favorite picture of my youngest, Harper with my husband.  I did not pick out their matching outfits.... not sure if he did or not.

Hola everyone,

I have been super busy lately moving back to North Carolina! I moved to Northwest Georgia last March, and decided back in October that I would move back to NC to finish school. Yesterday I drove from Georgia to my moms house near Raleigh (about seven hours). I'm so glad to be home, and spending time with my family! I'm very anxious to start my apartment search this week also. If any of you have suggestions on great places to live in or near the Wilmington area, don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail! :) Here is a photo of my nephew and I playing with Snapchat filters earlier today!

These face in the hole things are my favorite! I always take pictures in them. We found a new one not too long ago while going to the post office downtown, my son was just as excited as me. I'm glad he has a love for them too!

Buenas Tardes,

I am very sick as I write this but it doesn't look as if I am getting better anytime soon, so I must force myself up to get my work done. I hope everyone else has been well, as I know a lot of sickness has been moving around campus lately.

One of my passions that I have had for a long time is photography. Recently I was able to get a 70-300 telelense so I have been capturing images of the moon. I find it fascinating that I am able to get such detail in my images. I took a couple the other day as we had a partial eclipse of the moon. I will share those below if you would like to see them. I also took a couple photos of the moon set the next morning. I also enjoy photographing landscapes and people. hopefully I can share some of those later this week when I am feeling better.

Gracias,
Penney
